Biography

I come from the beautiful city of Tarapoto, located in the rain forrest region of northern Peru. However, my first encounter with professional dance was in Bolivia while studying in Med School. In the cities of Cochabamba and La Paz I developed my passion for dance while taking classes first in Jazz Dance and later in Classical Ballet.

As my interest and love for Ballet took root, I traveled to New York where I received my formal classical education from Edward Ellison. Later I returned to Peru and became a member of the National Ballet under the direction of Jimmy Gamonet.

After some years in the ballet company and coinciding with the Covid Pandemic, I decided to become a freelancer. This new stage has enriched the artist in me with new experiences and broader perspectives, as well as giving me the opportunity to work with other choreographers, creators and performers from different backgrounds and realities.

This new context has changed not only my artistic approach but my training as a dancer as well. Therefore, since 2020 my practice has experienced a turning point with the coaching and mentoring of Eric Conrad and his Placement Method.

It has been a journey that landed me in Germany where one of my artistic heroes was born, Pina Bausch. Since 2021 I live in the city of Frankfurt where I am currently developing my choreographic practice and artistic projects.

Choreographer

Having trained classical dance for the longest in my career, it is not rare to find it rooted in my language of movement and work. However, my physical research takes elements from my personal and unique path as a migrant artist. Which is nurtured by the folklore of my motherland, other dance forms I got engaged with through out my career, like Tango, Flamenco, and Salsa, as well as my later experience with Contemporary.

Moreover, in my practice I am influenced more by other artistic disciplines than dance. From Painting, Cinema, Pop Music, etc. In addition, Stage and Light Design take always an important part in my concept development. Therefore, Literature and Theater take an special place in my creative process.
